Meet Susan Tabor-Kleiman of Your Professional Writer.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Born in Buffalo, lived in Montreal for a few years, and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Together, probably more snow that anyone should experience in a lifetime! Moved out here for school and never looked back.
I have two boys (four counting my husband and dog) – one is a college freshman and the other is a high school sophomore.
This is my third career. I practiced law for many years, then worked at a non-profit as a grant writer, and left that position last year to start my own writing business. I loved being a lawyer, and I loved being a grant writer, and I love this even more. I feel like all roads led me here.
What is your business about?
Personal pride, a sense of accomplishment, and business results through learning about my clients and then crafting personal bios, LinkedIn profiles, web copy, and other business writing.
I help people bring the disparate threads of their business and lives and put it in writing in such a way that they are attractive to the people they want to attract. I find that in the process, people are left with a sense of pride and often are reconnected to why they do what they do, which fundamentally is why I do what I do.
Who or what inspires you?
People who are willing to break the mold, think outside the box, buck convention – not just because they can – but because they have a mission or vision.
What is your favorite social network and why?
LinkedIn. It’s the perfect marriage of my love of connecting people and persuasive writing. LinkedIn is underused and underappreciated – there’s so much you can do with it, and I’ve become somewhat of an evangelist for it!
What is your biggest claim to fame?
Truly, starting my own business. I’m not one of those people who’s had a life-long dream of owning my business. It just evolved. I sought out a lot of help, did a lot of reading, etc, and now it’s a reality.
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Loyal, generous, punctual (!!). And fun. I know, that’s four.
What is your favorite indulgence?
Massages, spas, anything pampering.
