Meet Kelly Whalen of the Centsible Life.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m the founder of The Centsible Life, a blog where motherhood and money meet. My goal is to help readers live well on less. I’m a mom to 4, and I love that I can stay at home with my kids and still pursue my passions for writing, personal finance, and social media. You can often find me on Twitter and Facebook talking money and motherhood.
What is your blog about?
My blog is the based around my experience at the intersection of motherhood and money. My business is blogging and the social media space. I love sharing my knowledge, and at heart I’m a teacher (or a know-it-all, you can decide).
Is there a story behind your blog name?
I wanted to name my blog something a little tongue-in-cheek and thought ‘centsible’ fit the bill.
Who or what inspires you?
There are so many strong, successful women I’m inspired by in the social media and blogging world. I’m also very inspired by my husband since he’s so encouraging.
What is your favorite social network and why?
Pinterest! I love finding inspiration for my life and blog, and love the traffic it sends to my blog!
What is your biggest claim to fame?
I’ve been on the Today Show twice, and was named a Top Money Blog by Ladies’ Home Journal.
When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a LOT of things, but I always knew I wanted to be a mom.
What subject would you like to blog about but won’t?
I’d love to blog more about the tough side of parenting, but it’s just not a good fit for my blog or my family.
What would be your dream brand to work with?
Apple! I love their products. I’m fortunate that I get to work with a lot of brands I really respect.
What is your favorite blog or blogger that is not your own, and why?
NiceGirlNotes. She makes me laugh!
What is your favorite indulgence?
I have too many! For food and drink – I love coffee, a great glass of wine (or cocktail), and guacamole is definitely my favorite healthy indulgence. For relaxation there’s nothing like a great night out with friends with lots of laughter, ore curling up with a good book or a great movie.
