Meet Sarah Hughes of Finnegan & The Hughes.

We asked Sarah some questions, and here is what she has to say!
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in New York and my family moved to New Jersey when I was 18 years old. I say things like Pay-pa and waddaa sometimes, but I try so hard to cover up the thick accent! I met my husband, Rob, at college. We were great friends for many years and when I escaped working in New York for a new life in Philadelphia, Rob and I started dating right away. We have two children, Derek is 4 and Hayley is almost 2. Finnegan is our 5 year old Australian Shepherd and really more like a third child than a dog. All of our children love to sleep in our bed!!
I am a dedicated volunteer for the Preeclampsia Foundation, since I spent 3 days in ICU after Hayley was born suffering from postpartum preeclampsia.
When I am not working I spend every moment I can with my children. Once they were born I felt I finally knew exactly what I was meant to do with my life…be their mother.
What is your blog about?
I basically write whatever I feel like. The trials and tribulations of my life as a mom and social good causes that I feel are important to highlight.
Who or what inspires you?
Children inspire me, my own children and other children. The imagination, sweetness, loving and excited way they look at the world around them.
Strong intelligent women inspire me. Like my mother, one of the strongest women I ever met.
My husband inspires me because the love that he has for me and our children runs so deep in his body that he wears it on his sleeve.
People making a difference inspire me like my friend Trish and her dedication to Alex’s Lemonade or Carrie Higgins that created Team Abby. People like them inspire me to do more and become a better person.
What is your favorite social network and why?
Facebook – I love to find old friends and meet new ones.
What is your biggest claim to fame?
I coordinated the 2012 Promise Walk for Preeclampsia. We had 225 people come out to walk. It was one of the proudest moments of my life. Standing in front of other women who suffered like I did, and worse, and see that they were all there, because like me, they had hope! It was one of those rare moments when the world seemed balanced and right.
When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a NYC busdriver just like my dad!
What would be your dream brand to work with?
Apple or Canon – I love technology and electronics.
What is your favorite blog or blogger that is not your own, and why?
I love the Social Good and Parenting Perspectives featured in World Moms Blog and the relatable day to day parenting issues discussed in Motherlode.
What is your favorite indulgence?
Cole Hann Handbag, Take-out Chinese food and Wegman’s tarts. If I could get all 3 at once I would be thrilled!
Be sure to follow Sarah on Facebook and Twitter, and visit her at Finnegan & The Hughes.
