Estelle Sobel Erasmus

We asked Estelle some questions, and here is what she has to say!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am an award-winning journalist, blogger, author, former magazine editor-in-chief and board of directors member for the national non-profit organization Mothers & More. I write about my transformative journey through motherhood and marriage on my blog, Musings on Motherhood and Mid-Life, which covers how I went from dating diva to married lady to older mom in the blink of an eye. I’m a 2012 Circle of Mom’s Top 10 Winner for Best Family Blog by a Mom, and a 2012 BlogHer Voice of the Year. I was also anthologized in BlogHer’s 2012 Voice of the Year book, and was a 2012 cast member in the first NYC production of Listen to Your Mother.

What is your blog about?

Family, motherhood, marriage and anything else that I find interesting or think will be of value to my readers.

Is there a story behind your blog name?

Just the tagline: I went from dating diva to married lady to older mom in the blink of an eye. As a long-time journalist and American Society of Journalists and Authors member, I saw the writing on the wall, and that was that social media is the way to build a platform and tell your story. I started blogging and tweeting in 2011 and it’s been an exciting ride ever since that is not showing any signs of slowing down.

Who or what inspires you?

My husband, friends, bloggers who are really making a success of the enterprise, and my daughter, who one could easily call my muse.

What is your favorite social network and why?

Twitter; because there is so much interesting content out there for me to curate for my followers.

What is your biggest claim to fame?

I was cited as a Visionary magazine editor in the book The Intuitive Businesswoman, and my book Beautiful Skin: Every Woman’s Guide to Looking her Best at Any Age was awarded best beauty book of the year from Fitness magazine when the book was first published. I also appeared on Guiding Light in a 5-and-under-line-role, back when I was a magazine editor.

When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An actress and a singer.

What would be your dream brand to work with?

A luxurious travel company.

What is your favorite blog or blogger that is not your own, and why?

The Culture Mom.

What is your favorite indulgence?

Shopping and getting massages.

Be sure to follow Estelle on Facebook and Twitter, and visit her at Musings on Motherhood and Mid-Life.
