PSMM Holiday Party {Introducing Cyber Monday Events}

PSMM Holiday Party {Introducing Cyber Monday Events}

Back in the summertime, I got it in my head that I wanted to have a holiday party for our Philly Social Media Moms — something fun and festive where everyone could just hang out and visit and maybe take home a fun gift or three. Debbie and Sarah offered to help, and suddenly Cyber Monday Events was born!

The idea behind Cyber Monday Events is to have one last hurrah before the holiday season, where brands can get their best products into the hands of influential mom bloggers and in front of their audiences. We were overwhelmed with the response we received when we pitched our idea to some of our favorite brands, and soon we had our Party Sponsors lined up and many offers for swag and giveaway prizes.

Mega thanks to Little Miss MuffinKooKoo Birds, and BigJigs Toys for making this night possible.

Our event was graciously hosted by Dave & Busters at the Plymouth Meeting location. They had recently renovated a room for hosting group parties such as this one, and we were thrilled with this beautiful space.

During and after the party, attendees took advantage of the games, and I hear there was a pretty competitive game of Skeeball going on down there!

Bai supplied us with plenty of their delicious coffeefruit drinks, and we had wine from a local winery, Paradocx Vineyards. We all loved the presentation in decorative paint cans.

And let’s just say, everyone took home way more than three gifts. Our swag bags were filled to overflowing. Our swag bags included items from many of those brands as well as Fairy Tales Hair CareHorizon DairyMabel’s LabelsOhanarama, Avon and Suave.

Besides that, we raffled off over 20 big-ticket items from Little Miss MuffinKooKoo Birds, BigJigs Toys, CorollePaddywhack Lane, KaZAM Bikes, LEGO, Villeroy & BochASTRA, and Bai.

Cradles to Crayons was there as well, as our charity partner. Attendees brought socks and underwear to donate to needy families in our area.

I think it’s safe to say, a good time was had by all!

Thanks again to our sponsors for making this event possible!

Lore’s Chocolate Factory – A Chocolate Birthday Party Experience

Lore’s Chocolate Factory – A Chocolate Birthday Party Experience

On Saturday, March 26th members of Philly Social Media Moms (PSMM) and their families visited Lore’s Chocolates in Old City Philadelphia to launch Lore’s newest birthday party offerings.  Lore’s owners, Tony and Maureen Walter, hosted the event, which was organized by PSMM member Karla Trotman.  The Lore’s Chocolate Birthday Experience was two, 1-hour long sessions where the children learned about chocolate and had the opportunity to make their own creations.

A Unique Birthday Party for Kids

So how did this birthday party idea come about?  “I had already put down the deposit on another one of those bouncing parties when I thought, ‘I don’t want to do that again’”, reflects Maureen Walter, who acts as Marketing and Communications Director of Lore’s Chocolates.  Her husband’s family has owned Lore’s for over twenty years.  Lore’s downtown factory, located directly under the Old City shop, is no longer the location of its main chocolate production.  Maureen decided to make use of the space and hold her son’s birthday party there, calling it “A Chocolate Birthday Experience”.  The party was such a hit that she decided to offer Chocolate Birthday Parties as part of Lore’s services.

Holiday Extravaganza benefiting Toys for Tots

Thursday, December 9, Chester County Moms and Just Centsible Consulting kicked off the 2nd Annual Holiday Extravaganza, benefiting Toys for Tots. The event, attended by 150 lucky, ticket-holding Philadelphia-area moms, collected well over 1300 toys, providing happy holidays for 450 children. This is likely to be the largest collection event in the state of Pennsylvania.

Each of the 150 guests was being asked to bring unused, unwrapped toy donations. For every toy donated, up to 10 toys*, the guest received 5 tickets to a raffle of 100 prizes. Surprising the guests, we doubled their tickets after the Chris Byrne, The Toy Guy, announced his hot picks for the season.

Attendees raved about the experience on Facebook:

“had a blast at your event tonight!! I couldn’t believe all the giveaways and the great food! Thanks for all you do! :)” –Christine S.

“Thank you so much for last night! I had a wonderful time. It’s such a good feeling knowing that so many children will have a present on Christmas! I’m looking forward to next year!” –Jennifer P.

As did sponsors:

“We are SO lucky to be a part of the Holiday Extravaganza 2010 last night! With the help of amazing moms from all over Chester County, 150 to be exact, Chesco Moms was able to raise 1,363 toys for toys4tots and they are going to about 400 children in OUR COMMUNITY! Our Preston and Steve Rocks! studio tour giveaway was a hit!” –On Tap Network

Nationally sponsored by Playmobil and locally sponsored by Scott Honda, David Fuller Karate, AboutOne and Learning Express.

The event, attended by 12 members of PSMM, culminated with a MOMumental Moment: when all of the attendees were awarded a Tassimo T20 Brewbot and coffee.

Check it out!

But it doesn’t end there! The digital campaign, continuing to raise awareness for Toys for Tots continues this week on 10 national blogs. For more information, follow the Holiday Extravaganza 2010 Facebook Page.

Patio Party with EP Henry at the Design Home

Monday night, EP Henry invited the Philadlephia Social Media Moms and their guests to experience the 2010 Design Home in Gwynedd Valley at a swanky patio party, complete with signature martinis and fabulous finger foods.

For those who don’t know, the Design Home is an annual home building event organized to showcase the best of the best in Philadelphia.  It is coordinated and run by Philadelphia Magazine; sponsors are listed on the website.  The decor and furnishings, both inside and out, are on loan from local businesses, but of course everything is for sale.  The house itself is currently on the market.

For the next few weeks, the Design Home is open to the public.  Tickets are $20, and the really cool thing is, 100% of all proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House, a charitable organization that provides a home away from home for families of children with life-threatening illnesses receiving care at local Philadelphia hospitals.

EP Henry was responsible for the fabulous outdoor living space at the Design Home, where our party took place.

The inside of the house was as exquisite as the outside. Here are a few photos from fellow PSMM member Sarah at

The foyer:

I thought this self-portrait was so cute. We were all a bit in awe of this temperature controlled wine room, located right by the butler’s pantry on the main floor of the home.

My favorite, of course, the kitchen:

Diane Bishop of Diane Bishop Interiors is responsible for the gorgeous decor throughout the house.  She shared with us a little about her vision and how they designed the home around a specific family profile.  Her enthusiasm was contagious, and I enjoyed chatting with her about some of the features of the home.

For a whole slew of pictures, feel free to visit our PSMM Flickr group.

Here are a few upcoming events at the Design Home that you may be interested in:

1. The Design-a-Palooza on Saturday, September 25, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Design Home (no RSVP or special tickets required) for an opportunity to speak with EP Henry designers and have your “before” photos transformed by professional designers to create a realistic “after” image using their state-of-the-art PRO Landscape Software.

Each PSMM member was invited to submit their own backyard pictures for this service, and we all received our Before and After Possibilities at the party. Here’s mine:

Pretty cool, huh?

2. Green Day on Oct 2 is an opportunity to increase your stormwater IQ and get tax credits in return with an easy-to-follow demonstration on permeable guidelines and township standards.

3. Finally, there is a 5% discount for 5 Saturdays (September 11, September 18, September 25, October 2 and October 9) with EP Henry matching 5% as donation to Ronald McDonald House.

The Design Home is open to the public until October 10. Hours are Thursdays from 12-8, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 11-4. It is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  There is no parking at the site. Complimentary parking and shuttle service is offered at 1201 Sumneytown Pike in Spring House, PA.

Have you ever toured one of the Design Homes?  This was truly a fabulous experience.  Thanks, EP Henry, for planning such a memorable event!

Disclosure: EP Henry invited all PSMM members to a patio party the Design Home in exchange for sharing about the experience on our blogs.

Chester County Moms Holiday Extravaganza

Last Thursday night, 125 moms turned out for the Chester County Moms Holiday Extravaganza, benefiting Toys for Tots.  What a night!  Beautiful room, festive atmosphere, tons of cool products on display, and delicious food from Rino’s.

Our local community of Moms donated over 500 toys, and we had over 70 prizes raffled off thanks to the generosity of many corporations and the help of The Toy Guy, who came to showcase off his 13 of his top holiday toy picks for 2009.  Having the Toy Guy attend was a quite an honor as he has been on Oprah and is a regular expert on Regis & Kelly!  Two local Marines walked the runway fashion show style with the The Toy Guy’s top picks.  Very cool.
